Gas prices have been on the rise lately (and stretching wallets pretty thin). But did you know there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your fuel? Here are a few of our top ways we make our gas go the extra mile:

1. Make sure your tires are inflated appropriately. If your tires are under inflated, this might be a reason you’re visiting the gas pump more frequently! Check your car owner’s manual to know how much air pressure your tires should be at, and check your tires regularly. Most gas stations have a tire pressure pump for free (or at a super low cost!). This will also help make sure your tires don’t wear prematurely.
2. Use the correct motor oil and octane gas for your vehicle. This is one of the best ways to maintain your vehicle’s gas efficiency. You can find the appropriate motor oil and fuel type in your car’s manual or you can ask your mechanic for the correct motor and fuel type!
3. Don’t ignore faulty sensors. Sensors are the way your car communicates any issues, so ignoring the sensor light won’t make the problem go away. You’d be surprised how often a faulty sensor is impacting your vehicle. If you notice a light pop up on your dash, head to your mechanic and get it fixed ASAP!
4. Lighten up. Packing your car to the brim often results in stress on various components of your car, like your engine and/or brakes. It can also cause your car to burn more gas while driving around town. Taking all unnecessary items out of your car will help make your fuel last longer.

There are many ways you can help your car go the extra mile – literally! By following the tips above, you’ll notice fewer trips to the gas station quickly (and a little extra change in your pocket!).
